1 - The workshop for stakeholders started at 9 am on November 8, 2012.
There are 12 people,
including three teachers, two artists, three museum employees and four
other stakeholders.
2 - This is the mechanism to discover:
a friction wheel:
the 3D camtransformsa
circular motion in anothercircular
movement,
orthogonalto
it.
The pressure of theupper
horizontalwheelproduces
enoughfrictionto
permit movement.
3 - And this is an automata that uses the same mechanism. You may click on the image to see the movement
of the bird and the mechanism.
4 - After the
presentation of the project, first hypothesis and
first drawings
5 - Materials are on the table, everyone can take what they need.
6 - Experimenting
with materials, the hypotheses are tested.
7 - To test the mechanism
they build the cardboard box that will serve as a
basis for automata
8 - The mechanism is
tested inside the box
9 - Something doesn't
work...thinking on it
10 - Need some help?
11 - Clohe teachers go round to help.
12 - The mechanism works!
13 - Drawing on
a piece of soft rubber and then cutting out the figures
14 - it's time to give the opportunity to see other already made automata.
15 - Preparing the
figures
16 - Testing
mechanisms and figures
17 - The automata are ready: this is a flying disk with rubber propellers
18 - The sun and the
moon change color at every turn, while someone is watching them.
19 - A cat perched
on the moon observed a yellow flower.
20 - Marine animals of Stefania.
21 - A lion, a
panther and a bear make company
22 - Alessandra's
family, with her cat and her donkey
23 - A lady in the woods raises her hands to the sky
24 - Other marine
animals!
25 - All the
automata are now ready. It was a day full of discovery.
26 - The presentation of the work: everyone talks about his journey, the
difficulties and solutions
