Structure of the experimental course in the secondary school
Objectives: Objectives Clohe (Click here)
Preparation: Students were informed in advance in a general way (key words: automata, mechanisms, art), while teachers were informed by teachers Clohe with a series of meetings.
Duration. 28 hours (14 meetings of two hours)
Target: 20 students between ages 11 and 12
Phases of the course (see the detailed report with texts and images)
1 - "General Information": the first few minutes of stage 1 - (Setting during this phase: group class)
Teachers ask students what they expect from this workshop. The teachers show an automata whose mechanism is hidden. They recount the various stages of the workshop, the discovery of the mechanisms, the creation of a story, the key points, the creation of the automata, sharing with other students, both with the school and with the European students through the website and Wiki Clohe. In this first phase we try not to charge students with too much information, preferring practical action. Later on we will give more information.
2 - "The discovery of the mechanisms: mechanical literacy", steps 1 to 5 - (Setting at these steps: groups of two students for each table)
The method chosen to teach the mechanisms is an inductive method: the automata are presented with the mechanism concealed and ask students to find out, drawing their assumptions about the journal, a notebook Clohe in white sheets where they will note the workshop experience.
The method chosen to teach the construction and decoration of the characters: in step 1 the theme is free, and students cut out shapes from sheets of colored rubber, for bonding with glue stick, while in steps 2 to 7 we will sugest the theme (animals, air sports, home, home, etc.) and the decoration will preferably be from recycled materials.
3 - "Visit to the Virtual Museum Web": Step 6 - (Setting during this phase: group class)
4 - "Creating a story": Phase 7 - (Setting during these phases: individual, with two students per table)
5 - "Creating the automata of the story": Steps 8 to 12 - (Setting during these phases: individual, with two students per table)
6 - "Sharing the work done in class": stage 13 - (Setting during these phases: the working group)
7 - "Sharing the work done in school": stage 14 - (Setting during these phases: the working group)
Assessment tools for teachers: before, during and at the end of the course.
Assessment tools for students before, during and at the end of the course.
Registration of the workshop by Clohe teachers through notes, photos and videos
Sharing the project with teachers: meetings prior to the course, meetings before and after each workshop.
